Time to reconnect with your Summit family of friends and Summit staff! Summit alums in middle school and beyond are invited back to the school (1010 Regent St. NE, CR) for Summit Homecoming on Friday, October 14 from 2:00-3:15 p.m. (Cedar Rapids Community School District has early dismissal on Fridays.) Summit students are in class so our alums can talk with and engage our current students, too. Please RSVP here.
- Enjoy snacks and beverages during a reception as you reconnect with Summit friends who attend other schools
- High school students are invited to participate in a “Life After Summit” panel discussion with current Summit middle school students
- An all-school assembly will conclude Homecoming with Summit spirit contest winners and the school song!
Need volunteer credits? Summit alums are invited to be a part of SAIC.
In order to meet the requirements of Iowa Code Section 280.12 (2) the Summit School Board appoints and charges a School Improvement Advisory Committee (SIAC) with making recommendations to the Board on an annual basis. Based on the committee members analysis of the needs assessment data, they will make recommendations to the Board about the following components:
-
Major educational needs
-
Student learning goals
-
Curriculum, assessment and/or instruction
-
Long range and annual goals
-
Bullying and harassment prevention goals
-
Any other issues which relate to school improvement
SIAC membership shall include: alumni, parents, teachers, administrators, and representatives from the local community. To the extent possible, committee membership has balanced representation of the following: race, gender, national origin, and disability.
This committee meets just twice a year, once in the fall and again in the spring. If you are interested or know someone that may be interested in joining Summit’s 2022-23 SIAC, please email Paul Pressler.
