We Are Summit
Summit Schools is the only accredited, private, independent, non-parochial PreK-Middle School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. For over 20 years our multi-sensory approach to learning allows our students to excel while providing special attention to the individual needs and gifts of each child. Families choose Summit Schools for an educational approach that customizes learning for each student’s strengths, needs, skills, and interests.
By integrating mindfulness and the appropriate use of technology into education, we aim to empower our students to affect positive change and become future community leaders. At Summit, children learn to become the architects of their own learning.

Mission Statement
Summit Schools empowers each student to exceed their academic, social, and emotional goals to ensure a lifetime of success and personal fulfillment.
After watching our son struggle the last few years and uncovering some learning issues, we knew we had to find the right educational fit for him. My husband and I had planned on visiting a few schools to see what our options were and how they would help our son. Summit was our first and LAST stop!
My child is able to be challenged while being supported in such a thoughtful, caring way that he has excelled in the classroom. Some of the things we LOVE about Summit are Ms. Pat, Ms. Larisa, Y.A.L.E., service learning, Flex Fridays, Ms. Rachel’s school lunches, the ski trip and the fact that they let kids be kids. They expect kind, caring, inclusive people and that is what they help create.
As parents, we have choices when it comes to our children’s education. We choose Summit for the individual attention, initially drawn by the small class sizes and project-based learning. We have come to value not only the academic excellence, but also the social and emotional development that the Summit environment promotes. From mindfulness to character training, we’ve witnessed our children gain confidence and excitement for learning. Summit values each individual student and fosters growth within a nurturing community. Finding Summit has been pivotal in the lives of our children and a true blessing for our family.
