Summit hosted the "Digital Mindfulness for Kids" presentation and discussion for parents with Dr. Skogman, and PTO's annual fall outdoor movie night featured "How to Train Your Dragon" on the playground.
👏Thank you to Dr. Skogman, Summit PTO and volunteers, and the families who joined us!
📈Summit Schools staff utilized the outdoor clas 📈Summit Schools staff utilized the outdoor classroom today for "Data Day" as they reviewed the progress of every student—those meeting benchmarks, exceeding expectations, and those needing extra support. Summit staff's focus was on identifying strengths, celebrating growth, and planning next steps to ensure each student receives the right level of challenge and intervention. This collaborative process helps staff keep student success at the center of their work at Summit Schools!
🌾Education expert and revolutionary Maria Monte 🌾Education expert and revolutionary Maria Montessori said that a middle school education should include work on a farm. The theory indicates that adolescents thrive in environments where manual and intellectual work are tied together for immersive experiences that richen the child’s education.

🚜Summit’s middle school program has partnered with Prairie Patch Farm wildlife refuge & nature preserve to bring our students an unforgettable community experience this year! Every week a group of students will work the farm and engage with the land: caring for the animals, performing chores around the farm, and learning about Iowa’s natural landscape and conservation. In addition, they’re learning and practicing skills such as determination, teamwork, communication, reliability, and problem solving - and hugging Prairie Patch's famous llamas!!

👏Thanks to @prairiepatchfarm and our volunteer field trip drivers for providing this amazing opportunity for Summit students!
📣Summit students, parents and alums - what has 📣Summit students, parents and alums - what has been YOUR favorite field trip and why? We want to know!

🚗Summit's many field trips out into the community are one of the things that sets our school and curriculum apart. Middle school students are using our community’s resources now more than ever and traveling to the Cedar Rapids Public Library every week.

📚Students explore the library’s space to engage in Summit's SEL Character Strong lessons and activities. Then they enjoy time to browse the library and choose books for themselves before heading back to school. Students love stretching their legs and minds off campus every week, and experiencing their local community.

👏A huge thanks to Summit's volunteer field trip drivers for helping make this and all field trips happen for our students!
