Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this pandemic that has affected us all.
Due to COVID-19 and Governor Reynolds’ guidelines, Summit Schools’ Board of Trustees has made the decision to cancel our June camps (June 8-July 3) to help ensure health amongst our campers and staff.
We are excited that we are able to transition our popular Academic camps virtually (online). We are adjusting our Academic camp price to $400/session (just $100 per week), and will provide a $100 refund to those who have already registered. A full refund will be available to those pre-registered families that request as such. Space is still available in our online Academic camps! If you are interested (or know of another family who is), please contact us directly and we will get you registered.
For those registered in any of our Themed camps and/or Healthy Life & Recreation camps, June weeks can be transferred to any July weeks if you are interested in this option. This can also be done with our Extended Day registrations. We can also transfer these registrations into our June Academic Camps if so desired.
Here are the camps that will be offered virtually for the month of June:
*Reading & Writing Academic Camp
(K-6th grades, June 8-July 3, AM sessions)
Summit’s summer Academic camps are going online for the month of June! Take your reading, writing, and comprehension skills to the next level! Join our intensive and focused program for students in need of a boost in reading and writing, critical thinking, and creativity in language arts.Students will be placed by their academic level in small groups of 2-3 to participate in Zoom conference calls 30 minutes per day. Teachers are trained in the Orton-Gillingham method, a high-quality instructional approach intended primarily for students who struggle with reading, spelling, and writing.
*The Great Summit Bake-Off Camp
(4th-6th grades, June 22-26, 12:30-2:00)
Do you have what it takes to be the next Summit baking champion?! For five fun-filled days, young bakers will experience a world of virtual hands-on baking with their peers. Learn how to read and follow a recipe, measure and mix, and the importance of kitchen safety. Best of all, we’ll have a blast creating, decorating, and tasting sweet treats! Parents and families – you are your child’s judging panel!
Summit’s tutoring program is also available online this summer! Tutors are available for reading, spelling, math, ACT prep, Spanish, voice and piano. Summit utilizes the Orton-Gillingham method of language based, multi-sensory individualized language arts tutoring. Academic tutoring is billed at $40/hour for twice weekly tutoring. Music lessons are $30 for a 30 minute session. Contact christina.anderson@summitschools.org for more information.
We are happy to transfer summer camp students to virtual camps in lieu of a refund, or transfer your balance to a tutoring account. Those that choose the tutoring option will have an additional 25% applied to your account (a $31 value for every $125 registration).
Summit anticipates a decision about our July summer camps will be made no later than June 1st.
We look forward to virtually seeing our Summit summer campers soon! Please email Summer Camp Director Emily Fleming at summercamps@summitschools.org with questions and registration changes. Thank you!
